CCA Annual Meeting & Election, July 19, 2025!

The Carson Community Association's 2025 Annual Meeting & Election is scheduled for Saturday, July 19th, 10:30am-12:30pm at the Carson Firehouse.

Meeting Agenda

Potluck! We are changing things up by making the meeting a community potluck! Please bring a dish or non-alcoholic beverages to share if you can. We are aiming for brunch food/small plates/appetizers, nothing too heavy.

Fire Safety! Jenn Sawyer will provide an update on Carson's Firewise program and community fire safety, while Carson VFD Fire Chief Ricky Garrison will fill us in on recent developments at our local volunteer fire department.

2025 Fall Festival! We will vote on a $750 allocation towards the 2025 Fall Festival. This will help the next CCA Board to prepare for the event.

Bylaws Amendment! We will be voting on a much-needed update to the CCA Bylaws. I copy of the draft bylaws was sent by email on June 17. If you haven’t received a copy of the draft bylaws and would like one, please email me at <president@carsoncommunity.org>.

Election!

All positions on the CCA Board are open for election. That means that you can run for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Board Member-At-Large.

To be eligible for the CCA board, you must be 18 years or older, and a Resident who lives at least 6 months a year in the boundaries of Carson, New Mexico (not to be confused with Carson Estates). No experience required.

If you would like to run, please speak to me directly or email me at <president@carsoncommunity.org>.

In your email, please include your full name and the position you're interested in. You may also want to include a short 1-2 paragraph statement that I will share with the community by in a July 12 email highlighting the candidates (statements can include why you want to serve, your qualifications, your vision). I must receive all candidates' statements by July 11 to include them in the July 12 email.

It is also possible for nominations to happen during the July 19 meeting.

You can also contact me if you have any questions.

Voting Rules

You can vote in one of three ways:

- Attend the July 19 meeting.

- Designate a proxy. A proxy is a person you trust to vote on your behalf. A proxy must include your full name and the full name of the person who will vote on your behalf. Proxies must be in writing, so please send them by email to <president@carsoncommunity.org> or by mail to PO Box 101, Carson NM 87571.

- Submit an absentee ballot. An absentee ballot allows you to submit your vote in writing ahead of the meeting, without having to attend the meeting. The downside is that by voting early, you may not be aware of information after you cast your vote, including new agenda items and candidates.

Your absentee ballot must be legible, and must include your name, the name of the item voted on and a "yes" or "no" vote for each, and the name of the position being voted on and the name of the candidate you wish to vote for. You may vote for up to 3 people for Board Member-At-Large, and only 1 person for each officer role. Absentee ballots must be in writing, so please send them by email to <president@carsoncommunity.org> or by mail to PO Box 101, Carson NM 87571.

- Proxies and absentee ballots must be RECEIVED by us by Friday, July 18th to count.
